Behnam Jafarpour is an Associate Professor of Chemical, Electrical, Civil, and Environmental Engineering at USC Viterbi School of Engineering. He earned his PhD and SM degrees from MIT in 2008, under Prof. Dennis McLaughlin’s supervision. His research is focused on characterization of subsurface flow and transport systems and optimization of their underlying resources, specifically studying novel  methods for stochastic subsurface description and modeling, low-rank representation of high-dimensional systems, dynamic model updating, uncertainty quantification, and field development optimization.

Kristian Jessen is an Associate Professor of Petroleum Engineering at the University of Southern California. Dr. Jessen received his MSc and PhD in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark working with M.L.Michelsen and E.H.Stenby. Dr. Jessen worked as Post Doctoral Fellow, Research Associate and Acting Assistant Professor at Stanford University until joining USC in the fall of 2006. His research efforts combine modeling, simulation and experimental work to explain and understand the fundamentals of multiphase multicomponent flow, sorption and mass transfer in porous materials.
